Life is cyclical. It daily has lessons readily available for you, if you simply are open to hearing and seeing them all around you. And if you don’t learn from those lessons the first time around, and make the necessary adjustments, the chances are you’ll get another opportunity to learn…

It is through that lens that we wanted to bring to light those coachable moments in life to help improve you both as a leader and a person.

Although The Game Time Adjustments Podcast is a new communication platform, the heartbeat behind it began more than a decade ago, beginning first with the book of the same title (See Resources).

The premise behind the Game Time Adjustments principle is that life rarely works out how we envision it should. As humans, we often have a circumstantial predisposition about life: “If X + Y happens, then I should expect Z to occur…” But what happens when reality doesn’t play out EXACTLY how we think it should? It’s in those critical moments that we have the unique opportunity to decide. How will we respond? Will we be proactive or reactive? Will we fight or falter? Will we allow this event to make us bitter or better? It’s in our response to life’s unforeseen situations that will ultimately determine our success in life.

It is our desire that with a fresh perspective, relevant resources, and the right spirit Game Time Adjustments can help champion you to face those challenges head-on when they come, learn from the lessons they provide, and better you as a person because of them.

As previous athletes and avid fans, we understand how sport is deeply interwoven into our societal makeup. As a definitive part of our culture, sport serves as the uncanny common ground in which people willingly cross socio-economic barriers and lay aside noticeable demographical, religious, political, and racial differences to collectively cheer on their favorite teams. And it’s in these sport settings, whether on the field or on the court, that some of life’s greatest teachable moments are on display. As coaches and lifelong learners, we hope to apply those same lessons to daily living regardless the environment.

The podcast is designed to be the proverbial coach’s half-time pep-talk: one that offers hope, one that provides valuable learnings, one that addresses prospective pitfalls, one that provides insights, and one that further fuels, inspires and champions you to win the game!
